Scale a Life!
scalA – Scale a Life! is a community-based organization created by and for care leavers from SOS Children's Villages Kenya. We exist so that no young person faces the transition from care to independent adulthood alone.

Empowering care leavers to build independent, fulfilling lives.
To empower care leavers from SOS Children's Villages Kenya with the skills, support, networks, and resources they need to build stable, independent, and fulfilling adult lives — and to Scale a Life! one care leaver at a time.
Who we are
Led by care leavers, for care leavers.
We are a growing network of care leavers supporting one another through shared experience, peer mentorship, skills training, mental health support, entrepreneurship opportunities, and collective advocacy. Leadership and governance are led by care leavers for care leavers, with transparent accountability to our members and partners.

Skills & Vocational Training
Practical training that builds real, marketable skills for independent living.
Peer & Professional Mentorship
Guidance from mentors and fellow care leavers who understand the journey firsthand.
Mental Health Circles
Psychosocial support and safe spaces to process the transition to adulthood.
Entrepreneurship & Seed Funding
Training and access to seed funding for care leavers starting their own businesses.
Advocacy
Collective advocacy for care leavers' rights and a stronger transition system.
Secure Fundraising Platform
A safe platform where verified care leavers share approved stories and receive targeted support.

Real job opportunities through our corporate partners.

We work closely with SOS Children's Villages Kenya to bridge the gap between care and independence. We're also proud to work alongside the organizations below, who create meaningful job opportunities for care leavers and support the association through donations.

scalA is a registered community-based organization in Kenya. We operate with transparency, ethical fundraising practices, and a strong commitment to safeguarding.

We hold zero tolerance for abuse, exploitation, or harassment. Written informed consent is required before any public use of personal stories, names, or photos, and consent can be withdrawn at any time. Anonymity or initials are always an option, and every concern can be raised through our dedicated Safeguarding Focal Point.
